About Ben East

Ben taught middle and high school English on three continents before starting a two-decade diplomatic career engaging students around the world and writing promotional material encouraging international student exchanges and democratic values. His humor writing has appeared in Flash Non-Fiction Funny, the Foreign Service Journal, and as two satiric adult novels.

His novel Two Pumps for the Body Man examines U.S. diplomacy and the War on Terror, finding what Catch-22 knew about military logic during WWII: The enemy can’t kill us if our institutions kill us first. His novel Patchworks examines American gun culture in a similar light.

Diplomatic assignments have taken the author to India, Washington, Mexico, Ghana, South Africa, Bolivia, Nicaragua, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates. Ben taught English at the American School of Asuncion in Paraguay; at Brooklyn College Academy; and as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Malawi.
