Rocks for Lunch

I sat here on this pile of rocks at lunch.

With rain and clouds low over the region for eight of the last ten days, this afternoon’s blue sky and warm sun made for a pleasant change.

As I sat on my rock pile and ate last night’s dinner of broccoli and tofu and roasted peppers over rice with peanut and Sriracha sauces, a small woodland creature stuck out his nose, startling me.

I was contemplating transition on an old familiar campus and felt glad to have a friend nearby, but he ignored my pleas that he join me on the rocks.

That’s ok. Lunch tasted good and the sun warmed my face and shoulders. I shared the sentiment with family over sms. That seemed a worthy act.

Now I’m sharing it with you.

thank you for sharing Ben, we are surviving about 10 days over 100° in northern California. I’m hopeful the breeze will cool tomorrow.

    1. I hope the situation has improved out there! We are getting summer-like weather all week and I’m loving it.
