Writing is physical

…and sometimes writing’s purely physical, like when you’re in the middle of editing copy in Word from a comfortable, seated position and you find yourself needing to hand-write a note, but that’s got to be done in the specific place where you organize all the notes pertaining to the next draft you have planned, but you realize you’ve left your pen in the pocket of the spring jacket you wore to coach your son’s Little League team…

Do you get up and fetch that pen?

These are the physical efforts that exhaust the writer, and distract him or her with easier things like Youtube, Facebook, and Donald Trump…

(By the way, why did Parker Jotters disappear from the affordable but decent line of pens available at any drugstore or office supply chain?)
