O’er the Ramparts

Today we raised the flag.

Not just any flag, but the Star Spangled Banner.

Today we raised the Star Spangled Banner over Fort McHenry.

The breeze set in motion the 15 bands and 15 stars against a perfect blue sky.

A perfect morning to raise the flag and relive the moment of Francis Scott Key’s inspiration.

O say can you see, by the dawn’s early light,
What so proudly we hailed at the twilight’s last gleaming,
Whose broad stripes and bright stars through the perilous fight,
O’er the ramparts we watched, were so gallantly streaming?
And the rockets’ red glare, the bombs bursting in air,
Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there;
O say does that star-spangled banner yet wave
O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave?

 Happy Birthday, U.S.A.
