Fly America, Call the Philippines (pt II)

When your official government itinerary on U.S.-flag contract carrier United Airlines is thrown into disarray because of concerns about flying over Iranian air space

…and the United agents can’t confirm the final leg of your trip (which includes traveling on Air Canada, Germany’s Lufthansa, and Air India) for 24 hours…

…so that after two hours on the phone during R&R you have to call back tomorrow rather than have the itinerary emailed directly to you, and you’ll spend another hour on hold to talk to the operator representing the American Flag carrier you’re forced to book with thanks to the Fly America Act

Rest assured!

None of the people you talk with will be present in the United States.

And you can say again with confidence…

The Fly America Act does nothing to serve the people who travel, and little to protect American workers, but rather gives airline jobs to Canada, Germany, and India, and offshore jobs to telephone operators in the Philippines…

Leaving the profits to corporations and K St bling to the representatives who voted for the Fly America Act.

Fly America. Call back tomorrow.

June 21 (Reuters) – United Airlines said it had suspended flights from Newark to Mumbai after a safety review in light of events in Iran, which this week shot down a high-altitude U.S. surveillance drone.

“Given current events in Iran, we have conducted a thorough safety and security review of our India service through Iranian airspace and decided to suspend our service between EWR and BOM,” United said on its website, referring to the airports.
